2023-2024 Events
Covered with Care (11/30/23)
This is a BRAND NEW event to Student Council! At Covered with Care, StuCo along with over 50 students from GSMST created over 30 double-sided blankets. Each group of students inter-tied two blankets parallel to one another, creating a thicker warm blanket. These blankets were created as part of a charity event to our community, donated to local homeless shelters during the chillier, winter time. We hope to continue to incorporate more fun and charitable events to others. View More 2023/24 Events |
Candy Cane Grams (11/29/23 - 12/1/23)
This event is an annual tradition we incorporate that is core to our Student Council. Students choose to donate $1 to Student Council which in turn do a nice thing for our charity (Miracle Network) and another student at school. For each dollar donated, students were able to choose a cute message to send to one of their friends or co-students. With this fundraiser, we raised over $400 for the Miracle Network charity, and had over 300 students receive a sweet holiday gift delivered straight to their advisement class. We loved the participation this year and hope to go even bigger next year! |

GASCThe Georgia Association of Student Councils (GASC) is an organization that brings together all the student governments from high schools and middle schools across the state, and is a great opportunity for students to grow their leadership skills and bring back good ideas to their own school. Each year, Student Councils around Georgia under GASC take up fundraising projects and send proceeds to the charity of their choice. This year, GASC has partnered with the Miracle Network Dane Marathon. This organization is a student-led, year-round philanthropic movement, uniting students across the United States and Canada in raising critical funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. At GSMST, in winter of 2023, we raised over $400 dollars for this cause through our annual Candy Cane Grams event.
This year, GSMST has had the chance to operate as the District 1 representative, giving our Student Council the opportunity to guide the largest district in the state of Georgia. We hosted a leadership summit in order to raise money for charity, grow leadership skills for all attending, and improve the Georgia high school community. |
