Inside Scoop (08/16/24)
Held at the beginning of the school year, Inside Scoop gives new and returning students the chance to learn more about all the clubs at GSMST. Club leaders prepared boards and activities to introduce their clubs and attract new members. Afterwards, students received ice cream from Student Council members once they completed their bingo boards. |
Welcome Back Week (08/12/24 - 08/16/24)
Filled with activities arranged by each grade level's student council, students participated in games and trivia during both lunch periods. To kick off the week, students played trivia games on Monday and were given Toy Story prizes, while students took pictures at Tangled-themed photo booths on Tuesday. Each grade competed to have the poster with the most balloons on Wednesday, inspired by Up! Finally, Executive Council hosted a push-up competition, an annual tradition at the beginning of each school year. |

GASCThe Georgia Association of Student Councils (GASC) is an organization that brings together all the student governments from high schools and middle schools across the state, and is a great opportunity for students to grow their leadership skills and bring back good ideas to their own school. Each year, Student Councils around Georgia under GASC take up fundraising projects and send proceeds to the charity of their choice. This year, GASC has partnered with the Miracle Network Dane Marathon. This organization is a student-led, year-round philanthropic movement, uniting students across the United States and Canada in raising critical funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. At GSMST, in winter of 2023, we raised over $400 dollars for this cause through our annual Candy Cane Grams event.
This year, GSMST has had the chance to operate as the District 1 representative, giving our Student Council the opportunity to guide the largest district in the state of Georgia. We hosted a leadership summit in order to raise money for charity, grow leadership skills for all attending, and improve the Georgia high school community. |
