STUCO's Events in 2023-2024
Club Fair x Inside Scoop: 8/18/23
This event turned out awesome this year, and we had a great turn out. Students enjoyed delicious ice cream, while viewing all of the clubs (including some new ones) that GSMST offers. STUCO was so pleased to be apart of this, and helping increase the student participation in clubs.

Welcome Back Week: 8/7/23 - 8/11/23
WBW was a hit, especially with the Music-Focused Themes for the week. STUCO created several activities during lunch with specific genres of music accompanying each event. Students felt engaged (as seen in the video) by dancing, competing in musical chairs, and singing while sharing their GSMST pride with their friends. We are happy to see the joy on everyone's faces!
Welcome to GSMST's Student Council, an award-winning and nationally-recognized organization that serves the student body and community. Our mission is to provide a platform for students to voice their opinions and concerns while fostering a positive school culture and environment. Our council comprises 30 total members from all four classes and diverse individuals with unique perspectives and experiences. We work tirelessly to represent our fellow students' needs and ensure everyone's voice is heard. Our council is committed to building a strong sense of community among the student body, and everyone should feel welcomed and included at our school.
GSMST's Student Council is a distinguished organization that has won the National Gold Council of Excellence award for seven consecutive years. At the Georgia Association of Student Councils (GASC) Conference at Rock Eagle, the council received multiple awards, including the Council of Excellence Awards from 2017 to 2023, first place awards for an outstanding website, citizenship/patriotism, and community service, and recognition as the 2017 Executive Board Journal School for the GASC. These achievements testify to the council's commitment to leadership, service, and school spirit and reflect its members' dedication and hard work. Through their efforts, the council has become a cornerstone of the GSMST community, promoting unity and inclusivity and inspiring other student organizations to make a meaningful impact.
GSMST's Student Council, also known as StuCo, has been honored as a recipient of the National Gold Council of Excellence award on seven occasions. As an essential part of the school's extracurricular offerings, StuCo is responsible for planning and coordinating various events throughout the academic year. Additionally, the council supports other vital school initiatives, including the National Art Honor Society's annual Festival of Trees.
The Georgia Association of Student Councils (GASC) is an organization that brings together all the student governments from high schools and middle schools across the state, and is a great opportunity for students to grow their leadership skills and bring back good ideas to their own school. GASC helps with many charities every year, such as Bert's Big Adventure, a charity that takes terminally ill children to Disneyland. Each year, Student Councils around Georgia take up fundraising projects and send proceeds to the charity of their choice.
In the years past, GSMST has had the chance to operate as the District 1 representatives, giving our Student Council the opportunity to guide the largest district in the state of Georgia. We hosted a leadership summit at our school in order to raise money for charity, grow leadership skills for all attending, and improve the Georgia high school community.
